So ~
KiusLady and I have been stocking up on fabric as we patiently waited for the serger to be repaired so that we could work more on petal skirts. Thankfully, we've also been working on other patterns for more things to sell when we get our BELLYDANCE STORE OF MEGA AWESOMENESS up and running. As it stands right now, it's looking like we have two designs that are definites, and a couple works in progress that we need to get the kinks worked out and then they'll probably be very doable, and a few others that we have yet to try but can't wait to work on. In coming up with these patterns, we've also figured out what we're doing that is actually crazier then 36 yard skirts in a day. Tons and tons of articulate little triangles of fabric meticulously pieced together to form a spirograph skirt. Yeah... we really are crazy! And these will probably either never be offered to the public, or they will be fairly expensive because it's an insane pattern just drawn out. I've yet to configure all the angles and stuff.
But anyways, so we went fabric shopping this past Sunday since we had super coupons for Jo-Ann's, and I spent WAY TOO MUCH. Like, holy shit too much. ~
KiusLady totally peer-pressured me into some of these purchases though. >_>;;; But I'm still really happy with what I got, and I can't wait to turn it all into fabulous pieces!
So, while in Jo-Ann's, my original idea was that I was getting essentials - my own bodkin, a better storage container, a magnetic pincusion, ect. Instead, I was hit with a huge blast of inspiration, and picked up fabric for an entire outfit! ...As well as all the essentials.
It's going to be GORGEOUS. I am so excited to make it! It's going to have a blouse top of muslin, with almost a corset vest with beautiful choli-esque sleeves. Then on the bottom there will be a simple panel skirt, and some awesome harem pants. At least that's the stuff I'm making. I'll then purchase some sort of kuchi belt to go with it, or consult with another friend of mine as to where I can buy the right materials to make a matching belt. We'll see. But the colors are these rich, sensual reds, browns, golds, and creams. So it's going to be very earthy and yet fiery too.
This is going to be a project that takes at least a week to create, but I plan on documenting the whole process simply because it will be easy enough for anyone to recreate... well, in theory anyways. And I'll post some patterns and such on here too, since at least the skirt is a home-made pattern. Some will be modified patterns that were going to use though, and all of it will be a lot of fun.
I'm just so excited to make this, and to share it! And I really think that if this comes out good, full-ensembles as custom orders may be something ~
KiusLady and I can offer to the community as well!
Ahhhh!!! So much awesome is happening!!!
But for now, look forward to another awesome write-up for some bellydance costume awesome! You should see it by the end of April at the absolute latest (you never know what might happen. ;D)
